Winging It & Swinging It -                    Jazz Improvisation

Instructor: Eric Baskin                                                                           Middle School / High School Students – Max 20 students

This community course is designed to teach students how to improvise (solo and ensemble) on various musical instruments. Instruction will include pedagogy of scales, exercises, and the rudiments of jazz improvisation. Students will also study the historical development of jazz and its impact on the culture of Louisiana. Students must be able to read music on at least the intermediate level. Guitar and piano students should be familiar with chord symbols (major, minor etc.). Some instruments may be provided; however, all registered students should indicate if they have their own musical instrument(s). A mouth piece and accessories are required for all wind instruments. 

All Music Summer Students are responsible for their own lunch.
